Here’s something that will either scare or relieve anyone concerned with the future of digital advertising and the web: From today onwards, the Chrome browser will begin to automatically filter out ads that don’t meet certain quality standards. Google pays a vital role in deciding which ads people will see while using Chrome. Your browsing experience is about to change a little bit. Here’s what you need to know.

Last year in April, Google planned to integrate an ad-blocking feature into its browser. Now, Google going all-in with a set of criteria for what ads will be genuine in Chrome.

On desktop, these include popups, autoplay, sound-on videos, and “prestitial ads with countdown,” a format that, for most, has become synonymous with Forbes.com. The mobile version of Chrome will target those same ad formats, along with flashing animated ads, full-screen scrollover ads, and ads that take up over 30 percent of users’ screens.

There’s plenty of reason to celebrate this new update for Google Chrome. The internet is getting harder to navigate, and more annoying with advertisers demanding more obtrusive experiences every day. Google claims that since the launch off this initiative, "42% of sites were failing to give the Better Ads Standards that have resolved their issues and are now passing." So it seems that a lot of site owners got the message before it could even become a problem.

For now, enjoy the better experience with this new Google Chrome update.
