On Tuesday, SpaceX put the spanish satellite Hispasat 30W-6 into Orbit from Cape Canaveral, Florida.
The company launched the satellite using the Falcon 9 Rocket at 12.34 AM on Tuesday night. SpaceX put the Spanish satellite Hispasat 30W-6 into the Geo-Stationary orbit where it will get tested for several weeks.
The new Satellite is planning to replace the Hispasat 30W-4 which is in orbit since September, 2002. The launch of satellite was scheduled for last week but due to presence of defects in the pressurization system in Falcon 9's Payload, it was postponed.
"Falcon 9 flight 50 launches tonight, carrying Hispasat for Spain. At 6 metric tonnes and almost the size of a city bus, it will be the largest geo-stationary satellite we've ever flown," SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk tweeted on Monday night prior to the launch.
The satellite which is manufactured by SpaceX with the significant contribution of Spanish Aerospace industry, will provide the high-speed Internet in rural areas of Latin America, Spain and North America.
The satellite will also provide the AudioVisual Content in Latin America and high speed connectivity in high-speed trains in the caribbean and mediterrian.
