Google Removed over 700,000 Bad Apps and 100,000 Developers from Play Store Last Year


On Tuesday, Tech Giant company Google announced that Google Play took action against bad apps by eliminating apps and developer accounts from the platform last year in 2017. The company claims that they used machine learning to identify bad apps on the basis of identifiers like impersonation, inappropriate content, and malware to root out over 700,000 apps and 100,000 developers in 2017, which is a 70 percent jump as compared to year 2016.


Andrew Ahn who is Product Manager at Google Play said, "Despite the new and enhanced detection capabilities which leds to a record-high takedowns of bad apps and malicious developers, we know that few are still manage to evade and trick our layers of defence. We are taking these extremely seriously and will continue to innovate our capabilities to better detect and protect against abusive apps and the malicious actors behind them. We are committed to make Google Play the most trusted and safe app store in the world".


Samsung going to hire 1000 engineers for its R&D Department


The tech giant Samsung today said it would be hiring 1000 engineers from top institutes for its three research and development facilities in India.


Top Institutes includes IITs, NITs, Delhi College of Engineering, BITS Pilani, Manipal Institute of Technology and IIITs.


According to the Samsung global senior vice-president and MD of Samsung R&D Institute India Bengaluru Dipesh Shah, majority of the talent will be hire for new age domains such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), machine learning, biometrics, natural language processing, augmented reality and networks including 5G.

Along with the computer science domain, students would be hire from streams such as electrical engineering, mathematics and computing, applied mechanics, and statistics, among others.


Huawei tops the Chinese Smartphone Market, Oppo comes second, Vivo third


According to a report, Huawei tops the Chinese Smartphone Market with eight per cent year-on-year (YoY) growth during the fourth quarter of 2017 and overall 19 per cent growth for the entire year.


For Huawei, its sub-brand Honor contributed to more than 60% of its shipments during the year which leads to rapid growth.


OPPO and Vivo were the second and third largest brands in China in the fourth quarter of 2017 and captured more than a third of the smartphone market in combine during the entire year.


DoT reviews call drops, says Jio and Airtel to invest over Rs.74,000 crore to expand infra


Leading telecom operators Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio, are investing over Rs.74,000 crore to upgrade and expand their infrastructure to address the issue of call drops confirmed by telecom secretary Aruna Sundararajan on Wednesday.


Bharti Airtel said they have invested Rs.16,000 crore on infrastructure and will also spend another Rs 24,000 crore to upgrade and expand their infrastructure in future. Reliance Jio also said they will invest another Rs.50,000 crore in installing 1 lakh towers to upgrade and expand their infrastructure.


Along with Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio, Vodafone and Idea Cellular are also planning to expand their network in their respective areas.
